The Academy of St Martin in the Fields is one of the world’s premier chamber orchestras, known for its fresh, brilliant interpretations of the most-loved classical music. The wind ensemble is a specially created group composed of the principal players of the orchestra. Joined by remarkable pianist Simon Crawford-Phillips, the program includes Mozart’s Quintet for Winds and Piano in E-flat Major, K. 452, of which Mozart said, “I consider it the best thing I have written in my life.” The program also features Beethoven’s gorgeous Quintet for Winds and Piano in E-Flat Major, Op. 16, inspired by Mozart’s piece; Brahms’ Sonata for Clarinet and Piano in E-flat Major, Op. 120, No. 2, showcasing one of Brahms’ most beautiful melodies, and more.
